Endowment maturing in 1 month. Global events have ruined it.

As above I have an endowment that was on track to pay out around £25k. After checking it for the last 2 days it has gone down in value by £750 a day. £1500 in two days. I cannot tell you how badly timed my maturity date is. Even if I cash it in it takes a few days and who knows what it will be worth then.

Fuming.

If my maturity date was just a couple of months ago I'd be in gravy with it.

My brother in Canada has just swallowed a loss of CAD50k (circa £27.5k) in the market turbulence.

leave it in the market. If they insist on paying it out as a cash value, stick (£20k of) it back in a stocks and shares isa and then it will go back up when the markets recover from the madness of current global events, as they surely will, you just need to be a bit patient...

Man, that sounds really frustrating. Sort of thing that reinforces my utter distaste for any investments involving "the market" as the whole thing seems like a gamble at best, total racket at worst

Not planning on retiring?
All pensions will be in the market either directly or indirectly.
Indeed; like many things in life just because it's the norm doesn't make it any less unpalatable..

I can't leave it in where it is, once matured it's paid out. I probably will be looking at a S&S ISA.i can fill one of them now.
