Not what people want to hear but ever since I took up cycling my scalp has become terribly scalpy, especially around the forehead. I wash and condition regularly but it seems to be awful, especially after rides of around 2 hours plus. I'm considering buying a cap to see if that makes a difference but my head gets hot at the best of times. Does abyone else suffer from this problem at all and are there any shampoos that are recommended to tackle the issue?

See your Doctor!

What are you wearing on your head at the moment?
Are you sweating a lot?

Do you wear one of those plastic hat things on your head when cycling?

On the rare occasions when I have worn one (which now gathers dust in amongst my collection of "useless cycling items"), I have found that my head sweats and the pad at the front becomes a sweat sponge. This may or may not contribute to the symptoms you are suffering from, but as FF says, only a Doctor will be able to point you to the cause.

I'm with the others.
Check it out with your doctor....if you wear a helmet it could be it's too tight/loose and rubbing? The sweat thing won't help either.
Could be it's not the right helmet (if you're wearing one) for you as they are all different fits.
Hope you get it sorted

Thanks All, I wear nothing else other than my helmet itself its a comfortable fit when I am wearing it. It's only been an issue over the last 6 weeks when I stepped up my time on the bike significantly. for example I used to go out for 5 hours a week now it's nearer 10-12 but always at least one 4 hour ride. I will try the E45 and will consult my doctor if the symptoms persist. I have never had skin problems so I am assuming it has something to do with the helmet.

maybe change the pads inside your helmet?
I was going to suggest that too.
Do you wash your pads regularly @Diz ?

Options:

More helmet hygiene (calling @Fnaar )
Wear a Buff or cycle-cap under yer lid, and wash it after every ride. They don't affect heat greatly.
