I have it on my 2 bikes and have had nothing but a great experience, its easy to set up and has been totally reliable (20 month). I use it for the whole year and all through the last 2 winters and it has not missed a beat. Personally I wouldn't go back to a mechanical setup.

I bought a bike earlier this month with it on (ultegra di2) and love it. I did have a battery fail, but it was due to the shop telling me they'd charged it, when they hadnt. No drama though, the front shifts to the small cog, and the rear carried on going till I got home - they state about 50 miles when this happens. I didnt know about the battery indicator at that time either, so now I do. Its going to become more and more common as the price comes down. I read that the di2 version overall is lighter than the mechanical version, but I doubt theres much in it. It does shift cleanly, but as others have said if you set up mechanical correctly they should do too. Im hoping though I wont get any issues like I did on my other bike, where wear of cables etc leads to the need to adjust, etc.

Have a mate with DI2 had a problem with it draining the battery after 36 miles, tried another battery still the same, took it to lbs should be ready next week, but others i know have it and have had no problems, luck of the draw i suppose.

Common issue with Ultegra Di2 with bottle cage mounted battery's. It rarely happens with DuraAce Di2 from my experience.

I bought my Wilier in December with Ultegra DI2 fitted and did not have any problems with it until I took it for a service in March (it had done 4000 trouble free miles). After that, every time I take it out in the rain the battery is drained within 24 hours. I have just taken it to another shop and we have tried a few things, so I will see tomorrow if they have worked (rain is forecast for Manchester I know that is a surprise to most people) I dont think the battery is in the ideal position and I have plans for a seat post battery which may solve the problems but I dont want to throw money at it without knowing what the problem is.

My own view is the issue is actually caused by the junction box located near the bb.
The water runs down the wire for the battery and earths at the other end causing battery drain.
When I do a ultegra installation I put the junction box in a condom and have never seen the battery drain issue on one of my installs.. Could be coincidence, luck or down to me taking this preventive action I don't know

Are you talking about the box that sits inside the frame? Not the actual battery holder?

I am indeed. I think the water is caught by the battery and runs down the wire to the inside of the frame where it sits.. Its not uncommon to find the inside of the frame to be wet on Di2 equipped bikes.
