I got my new Edge 500 today - fantastic. The wife will be even more displeased that I can analyse even more data ...........

However, whilst I have set all the data/pages to what I think I will want, I am struggling to see if I can keep all items in imperial (speed, altitude etc etc) EXCEPT the temperature which I want in centigrade - any ideas if this is possible - if so how?

This looks to be a fantastic bit of kit.

I got one last week, and that's the ONLY thing that frustrates me too... I want the measurements in imperial, but the temp in celsius.
I don't think it's possible.

Maybe a future firmware update will allow it.

Cracking bit of kit though - just wait until you upload tonnes of data to GarminConnect

I have a similar issue with my
Edge 705 - I don't think garmin realise the Uk is officially metric but still uses some imperial units - which to be fair the Uk is unique in this respect

I want distance in miles (to march road signs), height in feet (i use it for paragliding and airspace is in feet) but then it wants my weight in pounds - I work in kilos

Upgrade to software version 2.40 via the Garmin Connect website (and installer) then select 'Statue UK' in the settings menu and it'll give you what you want! I think the 705 has Statute UK as standard?

Thanks Mince - I have done this and I see from the result (and Garmins site) that it does as you say although it now has the height info in meters as well - will need to mail Garmin and ask for another alternative on their next upgrade.

Thanks

Cool - that must have been uploaded in the last week then, as I updated my firmware last Monday and I am on 2.3x

Will give it a go tonight

Not sure they'll do that, the UK measures height in metres, (on OS information) but distance in miles, and obviously temp in celsius. That's the basis for the Statute UK option. It won't hurt to ask though!

I don't understand why they don't give you an option for each of the 3 metrics, Speed/Distance, Altitude & Temp. Then everyone can be happy

I was thinking that in my previous reply, they could just give options in the field set-up ie. Elevation Gained > then select metres or feet from a dropdown menu. As I said previously, it's not a problem for me as Statute UK suits me perfectly!

I have the opposite problem! Mine is working on miles etc. but the temp. shows in F and I want it in C (I never got the hang of Fahrenheit when I was at school - always worked in centigrade!) And yes, firmware update to 2.4 is done.

Have you reset the settings to "Statute UK"? There should be Statute, Metric and Statute UK.

OK, next little quandary - despite the user profile settings being the same as they were on my 305, I now find that the calories burnt is significantly lower than it used to be for the same ride/distance/intensity/duration. For example, a regular ride that used (according to the 305) to burn 1300c is now only burning 850c!

Not sure about that, Scook94 has a 500 and he thinks the calories are out on it too. It's my first HRM so I've got nothing to compare it to. It could be that you're just fitter?!
