I know I should really get a Nextbase, 'buy cheap buy twice,' and all that, but has anyone ever paid £30 for one and be willing to recommend it?

I’ve managed 43 years of driving without one, what is the benefit of a dash cam? I’m not being facetious, I genuinely don’t get it.

I can't remember rhe make but I did buy a £30 dashcam off Amazon...rubbish playback. It did just enough but to view a reg plate, you had to stop playback and hope it was clear enough to decipher.

I never bothered until I had a crash and had it been recorded i wouldn't have had to carry the blame. Currently have nextbase 522gw front and rear as does young oxo, eldest lad has a Motorola one. Got given a cheap one by somebody but the mountings kept breaking and kept freezing the recording hence going with nextbase. Good quality recording and no issues since installing over a yr ago.

Our local parts place had some £10 dashcams last year. I fitted to Wife's car, my car and Daughter's car. Make escapes me - 1080 def, came with a micro SD card that would probably cost £5. I agree it may not be as good definition as some, but if it records a collision it may well mean the difference between 50/50 or no liability. Was a fiddle to wire in (piggy-back fuse holder etc) but good for the price. RRP was £70 and there were no instructions and the website was dead! That was possibly why they were cheap, but not too difficult to work the way through the menus.

My Bro has one (no idea of the make) but helped when someone ran into him and tried to blame he. He was awarded full payment for the damage.

If you were parked up somewhere and a pissed up cyclist came past you and crashed into the back of the car in front it would come in handy, especially when the owner of the car comes out after hearing the commotion and the cyclist blames you for nearly running him over and making him swerve.

A true story told to me by someone I know last week, he finished off with, 'I'm getting a dashcam now.' 😂

I've been looking at the Nextbase 522gw front and rear, the footage on youtube that I've seen looks very good, but at nearly £400 fitted is a lot of money, but saying that it could prove you were in the right, yes I know it also shows how bad your driving is as well.

That’s very true
However…. the little ‘tone’ as it switches itself on is a reminder to be on top of your game
I consider myself to be cautious/steady/sedate to the point of wife & daughter calling me ‘Captain Slow’…
After a few days, your sun-conscious kicks in, & you just know that the cam is on

That said, my wife drives like she’s stole her car/wears lead-boots, so a dashcam might slow her down?
