I'm driving over in the morning. My car should be able to take your trike and my bike (I might even have room for you as well!). I'm doing the 100k ride as well.

Oooh, that's kind! Can I get back to you? I might yet take the day off and ride over anyway, for the fun.

Would it be a big detour through York? I could always get to the edge, or just outside, to make it easier for you.

Also, do you want the trike dimensions to make sure it'll fit?

I can't remember from last year, how do we get start times, is it just a case of turn up or are they allocated?

Not a big detour. I might be up visiting my parents, so I'll be even nearer.

I'm fairly sure it'll fit, it's quite a big estate, but if you send me the dimensions I'll double check.

I've no idea what the start times are, this is the first time I'll have done this one. There's nothing in the email about it.

I think the 160k riders go first, then the rest of us  I'm sure there will be an email out soon

Looking at the website, the earliest is 0730:-

http://www.eastyorkshireclassic.co.uk/cyclosportive/index.aspx

Last year, according to my download of last years event I started at 0828 took 4hrs on the 100k and I was in the pub by 1400ish.

Based on starting at 0730, plan on 5 hours max for the ride which is more than enough at a slowish pace, that should give you at least 90 minutes to get back to Hull. But I have a feeling that the early start times are for the 160k riders but there should be opportunities to get going at that time.

Can start as early as 7:30 :- see above I think last year there were no problems ...

Okay, good, a 7:30 start should enable me to get round and then get back for Ms. Admin's dance show.

Anyone know how I get registered for an early start?

Cool! The dimensions, according to the Catrike website are:

1.6m long, 80cm wide, 51.5 cm high. It recently went into the back of a Mazda Premacy people carrier with rear seats out, no bother.

Can I definitely book a lift back please? I fancy being home on Saturday to have a relaxing Sunday.

I think I'm actually pretty definite about accepting a lift over there too - most kind of you!

Walk into HQ, register at the desk and they will give you a number, attach to bike, when your all ready, go to the start line and join the queue if any, and as you get up to the line, the steward will call your number out to the time keepers, and then pedal like a lunatic for 60+ miles until you get back to the finish line, where the timekeeper will log your time, lock up your bike, go into HQ, get your shirt and water bottle, and have your meat pie and chips.

There is a hostel quite near the minster, Arch; it's very nice - I went to a party a year or two ago.

Are any cycle chatters meeting up? I want to have a go at getting a decent time, but think I am likely to be slower than most - but be nice to meet up before and perhaps arrange a drink after if anyone is up for it?

I'm likely to be meeting up with Velocidad for the 100k. I doubt we'll achieve a gold time, or even a silver come to think of it, but we'll try & enjoy the ride ;) You're welcome to come along with us. Any other CC'ers want to join in too? CC jerseys optional

You're welcome.

Your trike will fit no problems. We just need to work out what time to get there.

Nice one Solty. Been doing lots of shorter rides but not managed to fit any decent ones in. Do you and Velo fancy one this weekend?
I think I will try for a silver - will probably need a back wind and a bit of luck but gonna give it a shot!

Well, I think last year we started sometime between 8.30 and 9ish. AA reckon 45 mins to do York to Bev. Depends how early you want to get up really - I can be as early as you need.

I'll be lucky to do 10mph average I think, I'm probably looking at 6-7 hours, so don't want to start too late.

That's a point - I get the feeling you're quicker than me - do you mind waiting for me at the end? If you were in a hurry to get off, let me know, I can still stay over if necessary...

And I'll be in CC kit, but don't expect anyone to keep with me - the trike pace is a bit erratic - slow uphill, fast down, and uprights tend not to keep the same sort of pace (Plus you'll all be faster than me!)
