Ganna needs to improve on the hills if he’s going to challenge in these races. He’s been so close to hanging on but just can’t quite match MVDP on the lumps. Obviously not many can to be fair. It will be interesting to see if VDP can out power him in PR.

As is often the case with these Belgian races, it's ending with a bit of an anti-climax, even without the presence of The Pog.

The issue is generally that the strongest one on the climbs can usually hold the next solo riders off on the flat as well.

Would have been interesting if Mads and Pippo had got together after the Kwaremont and worked together to try and bring MVDP back

Saw an interesting theory on Twitter that the races open up so early nowadays that there's never a Group 1 to catch after the big favourites attack. 10 years ago or so, favourites would attack across to G1 and then some could hang on.

But that doesn't apply to MVDP, as he always attacks from G1 (apart from Roubaix 2021 which he didn't win)
