Duvets - worth cleaning?

Why don't they make duvets that come apart by zips, press studs or velcro,so you can wash the sections one or two at a time? The laundry near me has a new machine capable of taking a king sized duvet at £6 a time. I washed one the other month (took about a month to air dry as well) but i'm too scared to use it in case it gets something spilt on it,which kind of defeats the object of having it.
They do, the ones sold as multi season have two parts (usually 4.5 tog and 9.5 or 10.5tog that can be joined together when very cold, studs or velcro usually)

Why would you spill something on a duvet? Just don't eat or drink in bed to avoid

Our summer/winter downie (as they say up here) is a 4.5 tog all year round.
Easily put in the washing machine, (king size).
On a chilly night we pull up a bedspread and close the window.
Bedspread is £18 to wash at the laundry.
Mr M had choices - pay the £18, buy a new bedspread or try to stuff it into the washing machine, possibly breaking it and have to buy a new machine
He pays the 18
Old downies can be cut up and put into old pillow cases as mini duvets, perfect for the cats :okay:

Mine kinda rotate. When summers over the skinny duvet goes under the mattress protector and winter duvet on top. Snug as a bug.
When it starts getting warmer the skinny duvet comes off and get washed and just the big duvet on for a bit.
Then when it's too warm the skinny duvet goes on and winter one goes off to an animal shelter. And buy a new one next winter .

I hadn't thought of that!
Do the animal shelters take old duvets then?
Would be a good excuse to ride my bike plus trailer to my nearest animal shelter, 25 flat miles away from home.
A lovely summer's ride along the canal ^_^

Similar problem, but mine is due to epilepsy. Not just food, but blood from the mouth and CSF, the last 18 months, from the nose.

Not one is intentional or foreseeable. They may happen, they may not, I've no way of knowing.

Accy did say that his concern was spillage not bodily fluids

You lot in the UK appear to have a messy, yet oddly fascinating, relationship with your quilts.

I'm sure Alan Bennet, or even Ted Hughes could explore that unsettled marriage.

Something along the lines of 'The Rain Horse': In The Rain Horse by Ted Hughes we have the theme of disappointment, connection, struggle, control, fear and change.

His original post mentioned spillage, #46
It's just a problem i have with the mouth, due to the cancer i had years ago. The doc who did the op' told me i'd have trouble from now on with not being able to swallow stuff properly. I tend to dribble a bit while asleep. It's not that bad.+ Sometimes i put a few paper towels on my pillow which soaks up the saliva, but sometimes it does get on my duvet. Having said that i've been a lazy git in the past and not bothered to put a duvet cover on,but now i do.
