Burning issue household tips section.

Winter duvet seemed a bit manky on getting it out.

Are the things worth cleaning?

Sad to say I have the impression it might be cheaper to just grab a new one than get it cleaned.

In amongst possible useful advice, stands back to see who can claim the oldest one in continuous use.

At first Mrs Slick claimed to take them to the laundrette but on quizzing she admitted she chucks them out.

But I don't think you can wash them in domestic washing machines.

How much do you pay to get them washed?

Issue pressing - Aldi appears to be doing duvets very soon.
My summer duvet 10.5 Tog double fits in my washing machine.
I tried to wash a duvet for the first time last month, usually I bin them - I don't have a loft to insulate @Milkfloat
The newly bought winter one no way it would fit in my machine.
Once I got a quote for washing a duvet from my local laundry, it was £11 afaicr, more than I paid for it new.
Some wash, some only dry clean, some tumble dry, other duvets don't.
Read the label for washing instructions.
Home Bargains is better value than Aldi for household stuff imo.

Yes but best to find a laundrett ,unless you have a large capacity machine.
Wash the duvet covers every week or 2 at least on 95°c to kill all the nasty stuff.
Dont believe the cool wash add this malarky, best to have 2-3 sets so you can wash 2 sets at once.

We have expensive M&S feather duvets, be buggered if there getting binned instead of washing a few times.

How big are your duvets that they don't fit inside a domestic washing machine?

It has never occurred to me to throw something away rather than clean it - except for crockery.

Double 12 TOG Silent Night duvet does not fit in Indesit washing machine rated for 6kg.
There are bigger capacity washing machines, of course.
Do you have a duvet that weighs more than 6kg?!

Am i missing something? We have a bed 200cm wide and 220cm long. We use two duvets. Each 120cm wide and 200cm long. I don't know the TOG value. We chuck them in the washer every once in a while, and then straight into the dryer - together. We don't live in the tropics.

Edit - I think they weigh about a kilo each.
