I'm 60,so way past it,but even if i wasn't,i'd be a conscientious objector. Believe me,this country just ain't worth fighting and dying for!!

As long as it doesnt happen for another 9 weeks i safe , if i did get called up i reckon i would be put behind the lines in logistics based on my occupation

I would probably get put in the wages office. But after nearly 40 years of accountancy I might just take my chance on the front line and get it over with.

Merkel v Johnson, just like the Frankie goes to Hollywood video.
I'll have a tenner on Merkel to win by a twisted ball bag.

Past it, eh? You've just volunteered for Operation Mincemeat!

Useless fact - the submarine commander on that Op was a distant relative of mine.

the sub that shot the body out?
that's not a useless fact - interesting.
Historical analysis of the effectiveness of that op is somewhat divided I think.
(apologies for the serious interjection to your thread)

Good job everyone isn't of that same opinion, sorry you seem to have had a bad 'hand'dealt to you.

I think compared to some countries life's pretty good here, perhaps Brexit might change my view in the end but I'll only have myself to blame for that anyway, but I would certainly fight for this country.

I've got a letter somewhere saying "Thank you very much for your comment to the longterm reserves. Your service is no longer required ". So they can bugger off. To old and far too busy anyway.

I go into my local cemetery quite a few times a week. I see many war graves, some 1st World War,some 2nd World War. You'd be surprised how many over 35's were killed in WW1. Some were even in their 40's. People think of young men even boys being enlisted or volunteering during that conflict, but i only see the odd teenager's grave.
Maybe they thought Britain was worth saving in those days. I wouldn't say our current degenerate society is worth fighting for!

I think you will find that normally soldiers are buried near to where they fall, particularly in the first and second world wars and not in Accrington cemetery by the pie factory.
