Have a TT frame which I'm planning to put drops on, for now.
Don't have funds available to switch to full aero bars, bar end shifters etc at the moment.
Is the use of drops on a TT frame frowned on or is it just down to personal preference??

You could do it if that is what you have. I'm sure a bit of stem and spacer adjustment would give you an acceptable fit.

I've never heard of it done with a modern bike. For one thing, drops and STIs are not necessarily cheaper than a set of aerobars and bar end shifters. However on older bikes things were far more interchangeable.

Personally I wouldn't do it - I'd decide if I wanted to ride a TT bike or a drop-barred bike, sell either my frame or bars and buy the appropriate ones, so I would get something which would give me a better result with less fettling. But if you, say, want to ride TTs in a few months time but use drops for now, why not give it a go?

It would be fine, who gives a toss if its frowned upon, if it fits and you like it, ride it. It will just look like a track sprint frame with gears

If you can find a way to add aerobars within your budget it will be worthwhile as you'll go faster. Why would drops be cheaper- is it because you already have the parts (shifters, bars etc.)?

Go for it... I know someone who has 3 Ribble TT frames with drops simply because he gets on well with a very steep seat tube angle.

Take a hacksaw to 'em.

Will be adding tribars to it anyway as that is the type of event I want it for.
The reason is that I have the drops/tribars/shifters etc at the moment, the frame came to me as a bargain which I couldn't pass up.
Maybe will turn into a full TT set-up in the future, will see how things go.
Cheers All
