I converted my hybrid that way a few years ago, using Dia Compe 287v levers, but the problem you have is that the top tube of a flat bar bike is usually too long as they don't need to account for the forward sections of the bar. My CB ended up with a short high rise stem, and the bars rolled back a bit so I could reach.

Someone round Peterborough has done it and TBH..it looks cool.
I see it once in a while bit only ever for a few seconds, I think its got front sus. I think it might be fixed as well because i never saw any brake levers, just clean empty drops.
Ive always thought if I had a chance I'd chat with him,.

I've done it on a rigid 90's mountain bike. Had to change stem for short riser and used shallow, flared, cheepo bars from eBay. Replaced brake levers with old Weinmann ones that were canti compatible, and fitted bar end friction shifters.
It was done for a friend of mine who used it for a few years as a tourer, light off-roader.

To do this properly you need the following:

Yeti C-26 frame.
Manitou Elastomer forks.
Tioga Disk Drive wheel.
First generation XTR group set.

Check out your favourite internet browser and be inspired.
Thats just if you want to ride downhill tomac stylee

The thorn off-road tourers are (or can be) supplied with drop handlebars - my nomad is, so there's nowt wrong with the principle. That said, I gather it can be tricky and expensive to swap since you have to change things like brake levers, maybe brakes themselves too, and bar end shifters are a bit pricey too, as the integrated brakes / shifters may not be compatible without some cleverness and bodgery. Also you might not have the right frame size if you change as the ideal length is different.

That said, I've not done it myself, and have only ever bought drop bar bikes

Couple of pics I found(also saw the Carrera above)

If it's a single then all you'll need is some Tektro levers;bars and stem(plus tape ,cables);guy at work used them with standard v-brakes and they were fine.

If you want new road based tyres could do a lot worse than these at the price;

Am tempted to do my Trek hybrid like this and also been trying to persuad the better half to go this route with the second bike she's after.
