So, the "BB" clicking stopped when I got some new Spd's

Hurrah

but 4 days later, another noise arrived, this is more like a metal on metal clunking noise, It was so bad and I was so worried by it I stopped riding the Cannondale and took it to a shop because it sounded like terminal damage might happen

2 days later and the verdict was ?

They cant find an issue

ARGHHHHHHHH

My click when pedalling, only on the right, for around 6 months drove me mad.
Thought it was the pedal, new pedals, nothing, BB, took it to the LBS, nothing.

Anyway it turned out to be the seat post. On mine, a Bontrager post, the top bit that fastens to the seat itself, one day finally worked loose and the seat would turn on the top of the seat post. After 2 years and 12,000 miles it had had enough. Click gone !

Will check it out

I should add, this "New" noise only happens when I am out of the saddle, either on the flat or up hill, but not when Im sat down.

Interesting, I had noise, when out of the saddle, the bike sounded like a pair of crutches!, and I thought again it was the BB as the extra stress going through it, turned out it was the front wheel.

I had over tightened the skewer, so I applied a splash of WD40 to either side where it contacts the drop out, , and re tightened it but not as tight, and again gone!

I'd check the bars/headset but it could also be a bit of flex creeping in. Try going down to a lower gear so that you are not putting as much stress on the bike and see if that cures it.

Maybe it's your knees? Seriously though,i would have thought 'clunking' sounds more serious than a clicking, how fast is the clunking?Stop me if i get too technical for you

Check the front mech cage isn't catching the crank when in the big ring - that would show when 'putting the power down' .

Noises are a mare to track down sometimes.

I did this to the front as its a new wheel & prime suspect

No joy

did it to the rear rear

and it seems to have solved it

Fingers crossed it doesnt come back again

Thanks Peeps

check the angle of the spare cable exiting the front mech. i had an annoying ticking noise which turned out to be said cable catching my shoes each rotation…

loose chainring bolts will often creak and are easily tightened.
