We have lots of ASL's around here, most with a marked off green lane for about 50ish yrds leading upto them, alot of the time that lane is quite narrow, (either because it's filled with half a vehicle or it's crapply designed) so it can be a bit of a balancing act to even get upto the actual ASL.

They are hardly enforced and sometimes paint them in the stupidest of TL Zones. Has potential but like with the rest of UK rules/regs it's not quite cricket as the petrol-heads get away with the misdemeanour's as it would take up too much police time to enforce strict ruling.
