Drilling a front fork...

for a brake. I need to drill a hole in some brand new forks so that I can run a brake and it scares me - does anyone have any helpful tips - I have a drill and and an 8mm bit but...

What forks are they? The forks needs to be designed to run a front brake, I would be wary of drilling a hole in one that is not designed to.

Iv'e seen people drilling frames and various things but not sure I would do it to a set of forks. It may be safe but I like my teeth in place and straight.

You only need to drill out the back to accept the nut thingy. I've done a few just take your time (drill on a quite slow speed) and watch the bit doesn't 'snag' towards the end.

BTW I take it these are steel forks as an Aluminium or carbon fork should be set up to accept the 8mm nut.

you are risking your life doing that - buy some different forks that already have a hole in them

They are track forks in aluminium. you guys are not filling me with confidence. Velodrome shop say that it is easy now I am not so sure.
