Reminds me of the horror stories that were told about CityLink. That didn't end well. To be honest the problem is that there is a race to the bottom for cost. And most of us are happy to go alone with it.
Most of us don't get the option: there aren't many vendors that have the breadth of stock that a Wiggle or a CTC have and allow the customer to choose their favorite (or least hated) courier

You can contact DPD by phone, it just takes really good Google-fu.

When I had my issue I managed to find and ring the correct depot - they asked how I got the number so clearly weren't used to people ringing, but it wasn't too hard to find!

Never had an issue with DPD......

Don't get me started on that bunch of slack jawed, inbred donkey shagging retards at Yodel though.....

Well I'm still not getting any Satisfaction with this...Just email from Wiggle saying someone else is dealing with it...No answers to the obvious(to me) questions I'm asking..I have no idea whether the bike box arrived at their premises sealed(minus the bike) as it was delivered to their lakeside office, shop, warehouse and not Portsmouth where i thought it was going..A quick call to me would answer at least some of my questions....Would i deal with Wiggle again?...Guess...

Best to avoid them when you are out cycling as well, because they drive like complete nutters

God knows..DPD had the address. All i had to do was pass over the over the parcel.. The driver put a sticker with a bar code on it and off he went..He told me he would put the address on when he reached the depot...Somethings not quite right with all this...Despite repeated emails to wiggle giving them my number they just will not call me..One response said they had phoned but couldn't be connected...I'm afraid i just don't believe that..If i tried to call someone i think I'd try more than once..I have had my phone with me at all times..I just don't think its good enough to say some ones dealing with it..I need to know how they are dealing with it.Are they in contact with the courier or just asking people in the street if any ones seen a bike.. Yeah i know a bit extreme but I'd like to know what's happening..They were helpful enough when i was buying the bike....Never again...

I just received a cycle related order via DPD.

I've had trouble with them in the past so try and avoid them. I didn't know this shop would use DPD.

Anyway, I missed the 1st delivery (there was no mention they were coming).

They left a card with the option to have the item delivered to a 'safe place' but you sign all responsibility over, once it's been delivered - I foolishly opted for this, as the depot was a 50 mile round trip away, and that would have been the only other viable option.

Anyway, parcel was delivered. What I found in my 'safe place', was a ripped open box with most (but not all) of the contents missing. I called DPD and they said don't worry the driver always takes a picture of the box in the safe place so this should show that it's damaged. The said picture was cleverly angled to not show the open end! DPD claim all was fine at the point of delivery so I can't make a claim.

The missing contents are worth £90 so not a small amount to lose. I am now hoping to get the shop to take the loss, but if they wont then I'm the one losing out here.

My point is NEVER accept a delivery without first seeing it, and checking it, even if that means it's returned to sender. Also, best to avoid DPD in my experiences of them.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

Althoigh I've heard bad stuff about DPD, and it still irks me when my supplier uses them, I've not yet had a problem with their delivery, and I've had many deliveries.

At the same time though, I've never opted for "deliver to safe place". I guess I've been lucky so far.

I am afraid it's quite often the driver at fault, ignoring parcel force where all the drivers and the company are arsehol*s. One driver working for Yodel put 17 parcel in clearly unoccupied houses rather than at my clearly identifiable house. On the other hand my Hermes is superb...or at least the driver is. Yet some people would reverse that. ps the firm that sent the parcels have never used Yodel since, at least not to me.

So no problems with dx secure then. I should have had my parcel sent to the works address but then with this bunch they'd probably try and deliver outside normal work ours to an address that includes the words industrial estate (amazon logistics certainly did).
Sent wiggle an email telling them to tell the delivery chimps to post it through my door or ask for it to be returned and issue me with a full refund.

In between here and there
To be honest being a sender of quite large volume of Parcels I would rank DPD right near the top inline with UPS just for service levels. Unlucky for me they booted me out as my parcels are too ugly for them. Over 30% of them need to have double trays, whatever that means. DPD have just opened a second hub, it can handle 600k of parcels per night apparently!

This is getting to be the norm since City Link went. Only Yodel will take large parcels in volume now....

Situation resolved(sort of)...Wiggle contacted me and agreed the refund..But the bike is still missing and they are investigating its whereabouts...I did get myself in a strop due to the lack of response to my emails and finally resorted to posting a message on the Wiggle Facebook page..I don't know whether that prompted them to get in touch but I'm glad and relieved they did...I have learned a valuable lesson from this and i won't be purchasing any valuable items via the internet and i certainly won't ever use DPD...

If you paid for it on credit card then raise it as a dispute. The CC should give you your money back and it's then down to Wiggle to justify why you shouldn't have your money back. Do it even tho wiggle say you'll have your money back. You'll get it back quicker.

I now have the refund...Still none the wiser as regards the missing bike..Not that its my concern now but i would still like to know how it went missing..My first message(email) stated the box had arrived but that it was empty they didn't say if the box was still taped up or not..I was sending emails asking questions but not getting any answers..Never mind its all done and dusted now...Thanks for the replies...
