I just received a cycle related order via DPD.

I've had trouble with them in the past so try and avoid them. I didn't know this shop would use DPD.

Anyway, I missed the 1st delivery (there was no mention they were coming).

They left a card with the option to have the item delivered to a 'safe place' but you sign all responsibility over, once it's been delivered - I foolishly opted for this, as the depot was a 50 mile round trip away, and that would have been the only other viable option.

Anyway, parcel was delivered. What I found in my 'safe place', was a ripped open box with most (but not all) of the contents missing. I called DPD and they said don't worry the driver always takes a picture of the box in the safe place so this should show that it's damaged. The said picture was cleverly angled to not show the open end! DPD claim all was fine at the point of delivery so I can't make a claim.

The missing contents are worth £90 so not a small amount to lose. I am now hoping to get the shop to take the loss, but if they wont then I'm the one losing out here.

My point is NEVER accept a delivery without first seeing it, and checking it, even if that means it's returned to sender. Also, best to avoid DPD in my experiences of them.

Go back to original company, it is unlikely that they will be happy with this being part of their service. I worked for a company who used DPD and we send out a lot of free stuff an gave a lot of refunds. However, rather worryingly, they are by no means the worst courier available.

does anyone know if I could claim on my credit card insurance for this? I have a terrible feeling that it needs to be over £100 to do this (it was £90).

Anyone help on this..I recently bought a Kona big rove from Wiggle...The bike turned out not to be a good fit so i returned it..(Same box and packaging)..The courier was DPD and the account was Wiggle...DPD picked up the boxed bike and i helped the driver to load onto the van...I have since received an email from Wiggle informing me that the box had arrived but that there was no bike inside....I'm at a loss as to which way to approach this..I have emailed DPD but so far no response...Trying to get Wiggle to contact me via phone is just about impossible...If they had lost the parcel then that's one thing but this sounds like its been stolen..The lack of being able to speak direct to either company is making matters worse for me...

Well, I can report that getting in touch via Twitter worked!!!!

I sent a tweet @wigglebikeshop and got a response to DM within 30 mins... following a DM I had a phone call and we have resolved it - or that is providing they deliver tomorrow we have resolved it.

I will report back, but Twitter is the way it seems, although I pointed out a lot of bad press and publicity could be avoided if they simply gave folk the ability to speak to someone.

Let's see what tomorrow brings...

I try my best to avoid any company that uses DPD too. I once paid over 50 percent the value of the original item for a delivery that would get to me before 1pm the next day on Amazon. I was on lates that day and needed the item asap.

DPD sent updates via text, and at 1044 I saw that my delivery had failed. No answer at my door. They helpfully even took a photo of my door to show I didn't answer. Except it wasn't my door.

I rang up immediately, they got hold of the driver and rang me back at 1055 - eleven minutes after the time of his photo. "Sorry, he's left your area now - he can come back at the end of the run at 6pm".

I cancelled the item, complained to Amazon, got a full refund and avoid them like the plague now.

This is a difficult one. If anyone other than the driver stole it, the crime is primarily against DPD who would need to report it to the police.

I'm guessing though that DPD are claiming nothing was tampered with and you must have posted an empty box?

When you paid for the courier, was there any sort of insurance you can make a claim on?

Can Wiggle tell you whether the box had been opened?

I'd report to the police, and stress, stress, stress the fact (on the call as well so it's written down) that your personal belief is that the driver has stolen it - unless this isn't what you suspect?

I have always found DPD to be excellent. You can see where the van is that is bring your parcel via their tracking system. I have even changed the delivery to s neighbour just before they have got to my door because I wasn't going to be in.

I would use them more if their depot was nearer me.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I have never had a problem with DPD. The drivers are always very pleasant, deliver the items on time, and I have never recieved a damaged, or package with missing parts or even damaged boxes.

DPD in this area is an excellent courier company. In this area anyway.

Surely Wiggle have insurance on their bike deliveries and returns?

Telephone DPD, speak to them, forget email. Easy for companies to ignore

I have never broken my ankle, doesn't mean I won't one day.

DPD have never caused me bother but the horror stories seem at a much higher level of background noise than most of their rivals, so I too avoid them.

Reminds me of the horror stories that were told about CityLink. That didn't end well. To be honest the problem is that there is a race to the bottom for cost. And most of us are happy to go alone with it.

I was having some stuff delivered by Parcelforce. I used their tracker facility and saw that the item had been loaded on a vehicle for delivery from their local depot at 0719. At 10.00 their van passed my door and on checking the tracker at 16.00 I read that my package was back at the depot as the driver couldn't locate my address. You'd think the driver might have asked my near neighbour when delivering there:sad:

Cheers for the replies...I have sent DPD an Email and received a reply that Wiggle have to start the ball rolling regarding this issue...All i know is the Bike left here in the box it came in...I helped the driver load it onto the Van..Two days later i got the message off Wiggle stating the box had arrived but no bike..There was no mention as to whether the box was still sealed....I have since received an Email from Wiggle asking for more details..So we'll see what happens...I agree if the box has turned up empty then its theft and i will contact the police...The problem i have at the mo is this exchange of emails. I'm at work during the day and have to wait till i get home so i can read and respond....What's up with a simple call..Once (if) this is resolved i will never ever use a company that can't be contacted by phone..Thanks again....
