It *is* a bit of a free-for-all on a morning there Fossy; the main road is yellow-line restricted so of course the cars choke the residential street behind the school. And park on the path, two years ago 'someone' (...) striped up a car trying to get his double buggy through the gap. The driver was still sat in the car, didn't even dare get out and complain!
The school is well aware of the problem, but TBH I'm not sure what they can do about it.
We do get PCSO's around every now and then, and traffic wardens but they only have an impact on the days they are there which isn't often.
There are some shops about 5 minutes walk away from the school with reasonable parking, not dedicated to the shops if you see what I mean. The school offered a walking bus service from the shops but I'm not sure what the parental uptake was, it seems to have died out. Flippin parents just want to drop their kids off as close to the school as possible.
Another thing they do (and I've been guilty of this on a couple of occasions when I've had to go into the office), is arrive at school *35 minutes* before kicking out time, in order to get parked somewhere that isn't going to cause problems. There is a mum who does it who lives just up the road from me; it is 10 minutes walk yet she chooses to drive down and park up for half an hour???
My son and daughter's school bags are covered in walktoschool.org.uk badges (though they bike there

), as are many of his friends. Some kids have none. There seems to be no inbetween?
The majority of the traffic problem seems to be from people coming in from outside of the 'catchment' area...
EDIT: rant apology
