what saddle do you have now and are you confident that it's correctly positiond for you?

A Brooks is only a good investment if the Brooks roughly fits your backside from the start. Someone compared things to boots/shoes, with boots, if they don't basically fit well at the start, no amount of "breaking in" will assist. If they do fit well at the start, then use will probably improve things.

I've yet to find a Brooks which fits me. I have bought several different models, then sold them as they were all hellishly uncomfortable. I haven't totally given up looking at Brooks models, but I'm now very reluctant to part with £50+ when the past results have been poor. I get on fine with some other designs, such as Specialized Body Geometry types in "wide" sizes.

I don't know about the experts positioning the saddle. All I know is I have just done 50mile
with no effort, no pains and felt that I could just keep going:thumbsup:

Sorry to say it but there really is no alternative to brooks if you are going to put a few miles in, but if you are just popping to the shops and back you could get a old dutch bike for twenty pounds ish off of ebay, take the saddle off this and have a few spare parts.

Well, I borrowed a bike a few years ago and the Brooks saddle was supremely comfortable. I can only therefore assume that my rear is the same shape as the owner of the bike in question, who was Plax.
She's nowhere near the same shape as me, and nothing like the same gender!!

Got to echo what others have said about the Charge Spoon. I have just replaced my Bonty Race Light on the commuter. Best £20 I have spent in a long time.

Here for rides.
if you've a plastic saddle the right width that doesn't suit and want to stay plastic then no one I've ever recommended a Charge Spoon to has complained
