Does this Nail Polish Make my Frame Look Fat?

Hello CC,

Don't worry, this is bicycle related!
I've had my new racer for a couple of months now, and in that time I've scuffed it against a wall once and it has fallen over a couple of times. The frame is still looking brilliant... except for a couple of tiny little scratches on the Seat and Chain Stays, which as a pedant is absolutely killing me!

I've been doing some research on home touch up repairs, and have noticed that either model paint or nail polish is a good option as it is cheap, does the job and is readily available.
I was looking at using some nail polish as it is easier to get and cheaper then model paint and because if I need to I could rub the point with a small amount of nail polish remover and do a second touch up in the future.

So this question is to all you lady's out there, how do you find the right colours!?
I don't think I shall get much luck walking in with an image and an RGB or Hex colour code.

If you are being pedantic, then you should have said that you're a pedant not that you're a pedantic :-)

I touch up my frame every now and then with model paint available in most toy/model shops. My bike is however well past the point of trying to match colours. It has worked fine for me though and not peeled off or anything.

I have used the scratch repair kit from Aldi with excellent results on my car. 3 years later you still cannot easily see where the repair was done. I see they were selling the kits last week so may be worth a look.

My teenage daughter has more different colour nail varnishes than I would believe possible. She's very good at matching my frame colours and has even been known to let me keep a 1/2 empty bottle - I currently have a bottle of 'Macinato Red' in my garage:smile:

Thank you! I scratched mine at the weekend and it's been playing on my mind they best way to fix it - hadn't considered the nail polish route! I'll be sending my wife into Boots tonight looking for Btwin Red! Regards, Mark

Apparently BarryM Burnt Orange is the way to go for a Triban 3 - who'd have thunk it, nail polish on a cycling forum...:girldance:

Simple! Nail polish is enamel, so works good for touch-up repair! Simply go to the cosmetics counter, and paint a little of each (similar) colour on each of your nails, and then walk outdoors to compare it to your bike! If unsure, simply ask passersby for their opinions!
