If you're not sure what you want try local shops. I'd avoid online. Many bricks and mortar retailers will match online pricing. Evans for example

Mixed views on Tredz online, notably claimed stock levels

On sizing, not all manufacturers use the same measurement so don't assume one size fits all

I'm 5'10, all my bikes are 54cm, but my height is more in my legs than torso

Whyte Dorset - marginally over budget at £1,060 but otherwise bang on for your requirements.

The Dolomite range as already mentioned is very good too.

On who to trust, professional reviews and user reviews both have their good points and bad points. I would suggest paying attention to both. The trick in either case is to read between the lines and not blindly trust the reviews at face value.

Thanks that Whyte is superb will take a closer look. I read somewhere here that the Cube frame sizes were odd but they sorted it ?

You need to look at the geometry. They've come up small in the past. Better still try them at your local dealer

So I found the dims for the 2016 Attain in 56, 58 and my old Racelight which im comparing it to. On my old Racelight (57cm) I always felt a bit stretched out so im trying to alleviate that.

And your conclusion is? What stem was on the Kinesis

Go sit on the bikes in the appropriate sizes at the very least

Well the 56cm Cube has a shorter horizontal TT than my Racelight by 8mm so thats a positive. I have been to two Evans stores near me and neither stock these. I have sat on Cannondale Synapse & BMC 56 frames and they felt fine though.

Evans don't sell cube. Cycle surgery do I think

Could try a Cannondale synapse disc?

I don't think 8mm would make much difference, easily rectified with a shorter stem. Something else must make the Kinesis untenable IMO
