Is cycling hands free legal?

It is advised against in the Highway Code. Then again the highway code has a lot of mixed messages for cyclists about "light clothing" and cycle farcilities.

I don't know if it's legal, but it certainly gets easier when you're carrying 24 cans of Stella in lowrider panniers back from the late night Spar.

I'm not a chav and I do wear cycling clothing - but it's still nice to ride non handed, especially when there is a girl riding in the group with you - it's a good way to show off:thumbsup:

So much to learn YC.
Riding no handed isnt that cool, i see kids doing it all the time to show off. Ok, so you can ride no handed, so can i:wacko:
I love it when someone in the group goes no handed, but has to put a hand on when going around courners, or going up a slight incline.
What is really cool is when you can ride no handed around tight courners, snow yourself down and speed up, and go up inclines no handed.
Ive done a few other things while going no handed aswell, but it just isnt as cool as being able to go along doing a high speed overtaking everything.
Plus i think a girl would find it more better to see someone sitting on the front and not struggling up the hills that other people are struggling up, and showing his level of fitness, not the level of being able to sit up and keep peddling while your hands arent on the bars:wacko:

Riding no handed is fun but anyone who knows anything about cycling wont find it impressive....it is fun overtaking someone no handed though (with a wide berth mind, anyone seen that youtube race finish video....)

slow down/speed up non-handed - check
turn tight corners -check
overtake non-handed - check
inclines on-handed - check

I don't ride non-handed often when in a group only when I have been riding a lot and my back needs stretching abit. Also I can now power up hills that some people struggle up.

(i was only joking about doing it to show off)

Also I wasn' trying to brag about doing it - I was just saying thatsometimes its nice to have a break from having to hold on, and I find it is a useful skill to have.

Do a fixed stop no handed, thats better. Get right down to as slow as you can, then put your hands on the bars and track stand, now thats good.
Anyway, stop blanking Kovu, she said shes missing you:evil::smile:
