I have the Sigma BC 1200. Bought it from Decathlon.

Underneath the computer are 2 tiny pins/pimples. The holder has two small metallic discs which marry up when the computer is twisted on.
I've just tried spinning the wheel with the computer in my hand................. nowt! Clipped on the computer then spun again, I was doing 7mph in my garage!!!!

Sounds odd, which make and model?
My raleigh echo (wireless) has a small activation switch thats pushed in by part of the mount.

I know that the bar stem on my bike does a good job of blocking the signals my Blackburn Atom sensor creates; it has to be at the very bottom end of the stem and cannot be even a millimetre to the left or it won't get a thing. Have you tried testing it off the stem?

BTW I can recommend the Blackburn as a good cheap computer. The magnet attaches to the intersections of two spokes, not one, and doesn't ever come out of alignment.
