On my bike, I currently have cyclo cross tires and standard inner tubes. I have the tires because of the grip they provide and how long they last. I only use them on the roads.

I have recently been having a problem where when I go around a corner and lean, it feels as though the back hub is loose. I have given it a jigger about but it is not the problem. I do have a very poor bike pump and as a result, my rear tire isnt pumped up as much as it could, but I dont need it rock solid as i am on bumpy roads.

Should I try to pump the tire up more or just leave it?

Imho in order to avoid pinch flats, damage to the rims, or worse one shouldn't really go below the tyre manufacturer's recommended pressure range (always given on the tyre) unless one really knows what one is doing (example of running largish mtb tyres tubeless come to mind).

If pneumatic suspension is important to you on the road provided the frame/fork can accommodate it wider/baloon tyres (such as the Schwalbe Big Apples) that have lowish recommended pressure limits will help.
