Do you use a torque wrench to install a new BB?

Hi,

I need to change my Hollotech II BB and I was wondering whether others use a torque wrench?
I use a torque wrench on things like seatpost clamps and a carbon frame but there tolerances are much lower.

Shimano recommends (http://si.shimano.com/php/download.php?file=pdf/um/SI-1LM0A-001-ENG.pdf) a fairly wide 35-50 Nm which make me think it's much more forgiving, i.e. not necessary to use a torque wrench.

Interested to hear what others use?

Thanks.

I've never used a torque wrench on a BB. Or any other bike part, for that matter...

Thanks.
BB is probably overkill but I've seen carbon frames pop when over tightening seat clamps...

PS: my torque wrench is for small torques. I was debating whether to buy a bigger one but the consensus appears clear...

I use one... because I have a torque wrench and the tool to do it, though I always use it on a carbon bike I would do it by feel on aluminium.

That said, if I didn't have it I would still do carbon bikes by hand - just use a good tight nip up. No need to baboon it.

If you have the Torque wrench ratings and the wrench itself, why not use it, otherwise just tighten by hand then nip it up, as you get more experience you will know if you are using normal wrenches how much to tweak them up.
