I want to replace the tyres on my new (secondhand) Woodrup touring bike - do you think 700c x 35 will fit? There seems to be a lot of clearance but I am no expert in these things, thought I'd better get advice before eventually spending any money.

I will be putting on SKS mudguards if it makes a difference....

What size tyres are on there now Thistler? If they're 28 32's I should think you've plenty of room.
If they are 23 0r 25's then it might be tight.

Looking at that pic I would think so,certainly 32's would fit, also got to check if the rims can take the wider tyre.
Have you got the 35's already or are you about to order some?

I don't have the money right now to order any quite yet, just getting ready for when I can!!!!  How can I tell if the rims will take 35's?

This is the info from the previous owner:

Mavic MA4 rims (700c); Schwalbe 28 section Stelvio tyres; Shimano Deore rear and Suntour GPX front hubs

If they won't take 35's, are 32's nice to tour on?

By the way, you appear to have misaligned dropouts on your front forks. If you can't do it yourself, I would take the bike to a good lbs to get that sorted first.

Maybe, or maybe wheel not sat in forks properly. In which case take it out and make sure the hub is fully in both drop outs.

I'm a commuter on 23mm tyres,not a tourer Thistle,listen to Gerry Attrick.
If your rim doesn't have the size stamped on you would need to take the tyre off and measure the width, almost certainly they'll take 32's if they have 28's on now.

Thanks - I just took it out and put it in again, the wheel looks pretty centered to me?  I'll check it again tomorrow when there is better light.

You've got,

622/2 = 311.

311 + 35 = 346.

Less half the Diameter of Axle,

346 - 5 ( to be abs sure ) = 341.

Measure this by placing a ruler across the droput lips and putting a measure tape to the chainstay bridge.
