Those are honest scars of hard work. That's different from damage caused by neglect or abuse.

I am slightly worried that i may have scatched my bike getting it out of the skip.

I'm a peasant.

Most of my bikes are scratched when I get them so I don't notice the additional ones I put on.

Yes, 4th August this year - bike was 11 days old when a Corsa decided to run into the back of me on a roundabout.
Mind you, scratches to the lovely shiny red frame were the least of my worries at the time - now on week 4 of sicknotes due to whiplash - and I dont get paid when Im off!

On the innaugeral ride for my Touche (the one where I took the photo in my avatar) I stopped off at the Scottish Office down in Leith to take another photo with it propped against a bollard. It slipped, fell and scratched the CF fork. I was just thankful it fell the way it did. The other way would have got it very wet in the dock.

When I next get a new bike, I'm going rub a hedgehog on it to give it it's first scratches. Have many scratches on my bikes... used to care, now I don't.

I've never been in the slightest bit bothered by cosmetic damage. I happen to think stuff (not just bikes - this applies to cars and guitars too) looks better a bit battered. As long as it all works properly, that's the important thing.

I chipped the paint on my Galaxy when I was putting it back together after a respray. It didn't even particularly bother me then.

Never been bothered about scratching bikes until I got my speccy. I only use it for leisure and consequently I am a bit anal about it. I think I will take Fnaar's suggestion and rub a hedgehog down it because this constant worry about my first scratch is making me ill.

My number1 bike has scratches from rubbing cables, scratches below the bottle cages, and scratches from a crash or two. I don't care about any of that as long as I can ride it!

The first day I took my new GT Aggressor into work, leaned it up against a fence, put the handlebars between two of the fence bars and scratched a line about 2 inches in it.

A few weeks later, it fell over in the bike racks (I knew there was a reason for not using them) big chip in the downtube.

My Road bike has a few paint wear marks where cables rub and where my trainers used to rub on the pedal cranks, but thats about it.
