I go there, wait until they screw up, write a letter to head office and hey presto £10 voucher which makes a great Xmas present to give to my daft brother and his Mazda MX5

Where do you go when you want something at 7pm or on a Sunday morning when the LBS owners are tucked up in bed. I agree Halfords have many shortcomings but they have their uses. Also Harlow doesn't have a LBS apart from a carspares shop that sells BSO's and some spares. Halfords fill that need and saves a trip to my nearest LBS at Epping.

Love halfords? Bit strong. Having read a lot of posts/ opinions. I have come to the conclusion that halfords have a deserved place in the market. They sell starter bikes to mid range( boardman) parts at a reasonable price. No snotty sales guy who in my experience felt was judging me. Ok on the down side do not stock more exotic parts and depending where you go the servicing and maintenance can be a bit suspect. Again on some threads it would appear that this is also true of some lbs. So on balance thumbs up.

I went into Halfords the other day to buy some bog standard washers

£6 for a pack of 10 bits of metal!

went into Wilkinson and found the identical pack of washers for 79p

Also they are selling some crappy puncture proof 26 inch tyres £25 each

bought some Schwalbe Marathon Plus for alot cheaper

Halfords=massive rip off

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HALFORDS! The prices are a bit steep but they got some of the finest selection of excrement you can find anywhere.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Never happened but thats my preconception (from clothes boutiques et al)

You don't think an experiment's in order, do you?

They're alright.

I ride a Carrera, which is a decent entry level road bike for the money. Mind, I went in today to buy some cheap mudguards for my cheap commuter, and when I got it home the straps for the downtube guard snapped under minimal force.

Well, what did you expect lol! Its a £90 bike that you took touring, and moaning halfords overcharged for work carried out is nothing new.

Ps Your blog says this " And the most amazing thing was the bike! No problems with it whatsoever... not even a puncture!!! ":whistle:

I didn't get charged? It was free under warranty! But they print a receipt out anyway??? :laugh:. The bike is amazing... 2200 miles and still going.:thumbsup:
