No, but I must speak as I find and praise the Bridgwater store for advice and general help today. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and I found it a pleasing experience. I was strolling round while a brand new pair of Marathon plus were being fitted at my LBS

Oh dear!!! Halfords...... I have learnt that they are not highly regarded on here! Its a fair cop! I own a Halfords Trax TR1 Rigid MTB! It cost me £90 in Jan this year.... I then spent another £90 to turn it into a 'tourer' and buy all the other bits (Lights, pump, cage and bottle, computer). Then i loaded the thing up and went from Leigh,Lanc's to Cromer,Norfolk and back! You can read about it Here. So the bike and me did it and about 4 weeks ago i could feel lots of play between the pedals!!!. Its on warranty till Jan so i took it in for them to fix it! Not before i took the computer off its holder though! WHY? Because i didn't want them knowing the bike had done 2000+ miles! I cleaned the whole bike and made the chain look like new.... The guy did ask where my computer was and i told him it was at home;he was itching to read the data! Told him it had done about 600 miles mainly on the road! I know what your thinking? A warranty is a warranty! Well i didn't want to take any chances for them to try and get out of it. I was lost for 3 days while they had my bike . Then i went and picked it up... Happy chappy? Oh yes . When you take it in under warranty they give you a reciept of the work carried out... Oh boy! They greased the bearings but then they changed them! (probably realised they couldn't get away with it!) Readjusted my gears and brakes and even put my tyres back to the correct PSI.... The receipt came up just shy of £50! I bet they bloody hate me! £50 worth of work on a £90 bike!!!. Yea i know they didn't pay £90 for it and the staff are paid wether they work or not! Still a good result for me.. They do have 'numpty, muppet' staff but they did alright by me. Would i buy that top? Nope! It says HALFORDS!!!!

I use Halfords all the time , never had a problem in there , but then again i know what i want , so can see those who dont not having the best of times as the staff are not the best trained in the industry, then again i think some on here just go in so they can dash back and write a post slagging them off again Yawnnn

A couple of months ago I was in Penarth and went to both of the Halfords Stores between there and Cardiff, the staff in both places were very helpful and a pleasure to talk with and helped my BIL to get what he wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halfords are handy for some things. Personally id rather use halfords than the lbs cos i feel leisurely in halfords rather than being leapt on by some over officious sales assistant as soom as i walk in the door of the lsb trying to sell me the latest carbon fibre thing and clearly quite disgusted that all i want is a cheap jar of lm grease. Never happened but thats my preconception (from clothes boutiques et al)
