Perhaps it's not that odd; yet far more people who like to stop are commenting. While far fewer of those who don't like to stop are not stopping to comment. ;)

Maybe the people who stop have more time in their lives.

Coffee and cake one of the main reasons for joining a club!!
In the highly unlikely event that I was to join a club, it would need to be one that went for beer and nuts. Much preferable to coffee and cake.

I haven't done a club ride for years, when I did them one of the best bits was the cafe stop in the middle, a chance to gossip, refuel and ease the legs. These days I mostly ride solo but nearly always include a cafe stop. One of my regular rides at the moment is purely a social ride, the cafe is nearly always crammed with friends and ex club mates, I usually end up spending far to much time at the cafe.

My LBS has beer at the shop when done. Have not had a beer mid ride. Am I missing out? Is that done over there?

Don't know about club rides apart from the CTC (Cycle Touring Club) who are not averse to a pint or two mid ride .
If I go out on my own I sometimes stop for a pint if I like the look of a pub. My regular cycle mate is a bit too fitness orientated for my liking TBH, he's one of these guys who can do 50 miles on a couple of bananas and energy bars. If I manage to drag him into a pub he might have a shandy and that's it (and he isn't even from the south of England, the :girldance:). If I'm doing 50 miles I need meat, chips, and Guinness :hungry:!

The group i go out with on Wednesdays has an half hour cafe stop halfway through the 50 odd mile ride. The group i sometimes go out with on Sundays has two one hour cafe stops in a 80 to 100 mile ride. The Sunday group's stops are too long for me. Mind you some of the group buy that much food you'd think they hadn't been fed for a week! No wonder it takes an hour to eat it.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Depends if you want a chain gang or a more social orientated ride i guess.

I have done a 75 miler with maybe a 5 minute stop for toilet + grab food and im happy to do 50 ish non stop dependant on pace but if i goon a club run its a chance to have some interaction with like minded people so coffee and cake all adds to the mix .
