Hi, I have got a new racing bike and have heard different opinions on whether you put lubricant on chain or not? Can anyone please let me know? Thanks:smile:

New chain grease is the best. Don't put any lube on it, and just give it a wipe with a rag to try to keep it clean. You should get 500-800 miles out of it before needing to lube it, depending on the conditions you ride in.

The general advice is like BM says but a couple of years ago couple of years ago I put a new chain on my sirrus just before Pedal for Scotland and 58 miles in the pouring rain left rust spots (only surface ones mind you and the chain cleaned up fine and lasted as long as any other).
