Was wondering if people have more than one road bike, or more then one MTB, and if so why?
I know some have a good road bike then they have something for commuting on or a pub bike.
I have four biked my road bike that i ride all year round, The fixie i have not used for a while as i no longer commute as i am retired it comes out every now and then if i pop out to the shops, the mtb if i go over the forest with the kids and grandchildren, The tandem gets used a couple of times a year when doing charity rides with one of the grand children. I love the road bike, i would not want to ride anything else, as for the other bikes they get me from a to b,
Have made a poll only yes or no answer, But it would be good to here your reasons for having two of the same.

Summer Best - Cannondale Synapse
Winter / Turbo - Giant Defy
Pub / Commuter - 90s Trek MTB on slicks
MTB - Giant Anthem X
Semi built new commuter - Holdsworth La Quelda Fixed

I think the Anthem X has to go as I only used it once in the last couple of years.

I've downsized quite a bit over the last few years. I still have 2 folders and a full size utility bike on the go but not much else. Recently passed on my last roadie, donated a couple of MTBs and another folder to charity and TBH haven't noticed their not being there.

One of the folders could go without any practical hardship but I've not made that emotional leap yet

Steel road bike with guards and rack, most ridden due to practicality

Carbon road bike, dry days, first road bike, doesn't get ridden that often but attached to it

Alu drop bar single speed, under used, hopefully later in summer

Flat bar alu (with discs, collect Thursday)

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Mine are:

Good road - Wilier Izoard - used occasionally and will be sold when paid for on C2W
Time Trial - Principia TT2 light - used for time trials
Commuter - magnesium Carrera Virago - used a lot as it's manoeuvrable at speed
Cross - Merida CC MD-3 - erm ... built to 'have a go at cross' and it's OK
Audax - Ridgeback Platinum - used for long distance events such as PBP
Winter - Eastway R4.0 - heavily used in the winter
MTB - Felt Q200 (that I went 'splat' on in April) - occasional use

And then there's 2 others:

Still around and keeps going - Specialized Secteur - tends to be used for anything really hilly as it has a Compact crankset
Why did I buy this? - Principia RSLe (still to arrive) - erm ... not sure why but it was cheap

Steel franken-bike (MTB frame, 26" wheels with slicks and drop bars)
Steel road bike (with no bottom bracket until I get the LBS to clean the threads)
Aluminium road bike (with no forks)

So yeah - I have a pair of unrideable bikes

One day - when I see the right parts at the right price, the steel one (1970s Peugeot) will be a drop-bar hybrid thing, as it was built with clearance for 35mm tyres (in fact I think it has 37mm on it) and the aluminium one will be the 'lightweight' one. But for now the franken-bike does all I need, so there is no rush.

I have two road bikes (others being a MTB & CX bike). The Cannondale was used for everything before the CX bike took over winter bike duties due to it's mudguard mounts, but since I bought a Condor Fratello earlier this year I've kept the mudguards on that and been riding that most of the time due to it being such a nice ride.

2 road bikes.

One hand built, Dura Ace for best/ex race bike - very rare - gathering dust.
One hand built off the peg 653 with Ultegra - equipped with guards - currently on the Turbo.

Fixed wheel commuter/panniers. Sat at folks house with minor damage - not repaired as 'evidence'. No longer commuting though.

MTB for fun !

Until relatively recently I had just the one bike which was my first roadie. It's a Trek 1500 from 2005 which I used clip on mudguards with and slowly upgraded only to realise it was too small so from then I was looking out for a new frameset. Now I've ended up gathering a few bikes and am in the process of thinning out a bit and finalising builds.
Summer road - Cannondale Supersix himod (as the 2015 frameset was too discounted to miss) w/ the ultegra and rs81s from my Trek frame
Tourer/Winter road - Surly Cross Check build with nice low geared triple chainset and full guards set up for road use.
MTB - Cheap and cheerful B'twin Rockrider 8.1

I need to sell my old Trek frame and decide what to do with the retro bike and parts I have too.

I was thinking maybe I should get a 2nd road bike but I quite like having fewer bikes. The reason for 2nd road bike is to use as rain bike but I think I'll stick with one rb for a while and see how that goes.

I have one each of rb, folder, mtb.

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
I have one each for road, touring, folder ( about to arrive ) and an everything else bike.

If i was to buy a second of one of them it would be another touring bike.
