Do you carry a lock/chain on a ride (road bikes really)

Following steve50s thread.
When I use my road bike I travel as light as possible so dont take a lock/chain. The disadvantage being that if I have a cafe/pub stop I am often stymied if a) I have to go inside to order or b) the bike area is out of sight.
Just wondering what others do.

If I have a destination, yes.

If it's a training ride, no.

I've never understood why people take it off for 'training rides'. Surely if you believe the extra weight has an effect (p.s. for most people it probably doesn't) then it's good for training?

I have a simple cable lock which tucks between my saddle and saddlebag. I also have a d-lock clamped to the frame, if I'm expecting to stop anywhere I'll take the d-lock, if not I won't largely because it rattles. But at least I have a quick lock with me if needed.

The lock is locked to my bike, so they travel together.

I quite often dont then usually regret it. Especially on a pootle in the evening and passing a pub. However the need has surpassed the common sense once or twice if the pub is in a remote location. Still a bit dim though

I never take a lock with me because I hardly ever stop on the road bike and when I do its at a bike friendly cafe where my bike can be locked up using their locks.
