I know some do from previous threads but it would be interesting to find out.

A lad that works for me is in a bit of a panic as he is cooking a meal for his girlfriend tonight and he seriously doesn't have a clue.

He said the only thing he has ever cooked (and I use the term loosely) is toast, oven chips, pizzas and things you just chuck in the microwave.

He's had his own flat for 18 months as well!

I used to cook big wholesome meals with good quality meats, vegetables and proper gravies but nowadays I have a wife who works and as she gets home before me, she serves up a mix of meat 'n veg and reheated quickies like pizza and curries.

My mum and dad taught me to cook proper home-cooked, fresh food, so now I cook every evening. Can't stand ready meals, pizza and the like. All far too salty. Never use salt in my own cooking so pre-cooked food tastes revolting to me. Plus the ingredient list is usually far too long for my liking. The only 'processed' food I use is dried pasta.

So yes, always have, always will.

Yes, I cooked a roast chicken dinner for me and the misses last night, I normally cook the Christmas dinner. In the past I have cooked for the family when the misses has been ill or working. Before I was married I lived in a bedsit and cooked for myself.

I cook most nights (mainly because I can't afford take aways every night)

Very basic stuff like stir frys or pasta. I have just about got the hang of doing a roast on a sunday, although I still put the potatoes in too late.

I try to do something new once a week.

A good quality frying pan/wok is your friend.

Seriously, it's not me. I love cooking and would gladly do so every night if Mrs Greedo didn't get home first half the time and start something. She's the traditional cook and I'm the cocky cook. I'm rubbish at traditional stuff.

I think it's because I get bored. Cooking a roast dinner, steak pie from scratch etc.... doesn't really excite me. So I tend to leave that to Mrs G.

She gets into too much of a panic cooking something that needs a few thing to be cooked at different times but to be all ready at the same time. I like that kind of pressure. Like User1314 I love that time with the radio/ipod/news on and a few beers and cooking away. Find it very relaxing.

We share the cooking in our house and we're both pretty good cooks - we tend to do a whole variety of stuff from Italian to Japanese and make a lot of our own ingredients (including pasta and tofu). We also have very nice (and very sharp) Japanese knives...

I'm another one - do most of the cooking for me and the other half. She thinks I'm a better cook and I think she works harder than I do hence I cook 5 or 6 days of the week. Her mum is always dead impressed when she comes to stay
