Best £65 I ever spent for my bike fit. I used Vankru Cycling in Southampton - Garth is a legend!

However, I didn't know I needed a bike fit until I attempted my first 200km ride, which I had to pack after 130km with really bad shooting pains through my hands.

Garth is a Retul Master (or maybe higher?) but he offers a non Retul bike fit for half the cost, he still has all that knowledge under his belt so you know you are in good hands. He does a lot of work with Triathletes and is highly rated.

Only any good to you if you are down south mind lol, which as I've just seen, you are not :-(

I had mine with Adrian Timmis

The guy from Cadence in Barton ? Just down the road from me, I've never been but heard good things about him.

I've always just tweaked my position as I've gone on. The only thing I've bought to change position was a longer stem, everything else has been done by moving what I have already. I'm in a pretty comfy position right now but I'm sure ill be tweaking again at some point as my ability/age/aims change.

It is worth remembering that a change in any one of the three contact points will effect the whole. Another overlooked fact is that a wrong size frame or one with geometry that does not suit the rider or the riders style will have you fiddling with saddle height and stem length etc. for ever. Plus, as Mickey says you will need to tweak as your body changes.

I went to Pedal Precision based at the Manchester Velodrome..Best money I've ever spent, went from having pain in my left knee always around 50 mile into a ride and now ride well over 50 mile rides with no pain anywhere.
He spent a good 45 mins setting my cleats up after he had give me a good examination. Talked to me about what I wanted out of the Bike fit.
Then onto the Bike he filmed me riding, made some little alterations and then filmed me again, made some more little tweak's, he even moved the brake hoods in a little..
He then showed me all 3 films and explained what he had done and why..I now ride farther quicker and no pain..
I thought I had my bike set up correct for me, the adjustments he made were very small but I obviously needed them..
Can not recommend him enough..

I don't buy into general LBS bike fits or any one fitting system. I would pay for a fit from someone I knew of, who had a good rep amongst people who I trust or have reason to believe would be good people to consider a "review" by to be valid.

In short, you need to not only realise that not all fits are equal, but also who to listen to when asking for recommendations

I found your post very interesting. I found the website but I would really appreciate if you could elaborate a bit more on what actually happens in a fitting session a what techniques / technology are used to carry out the fitting.
I look forward to reading what you have to say.

Why not give Garth a ring? He'd be very happy to spend some time on the phone explaining the process he uses. I've used him and would certainly echo the previous comments. Especially the bit about treating everyone differently. Garth does not use a one fit for all method. He can also talk through the various options you have to suit your cycling aspirations and pocket. Cheers

Considering my LBS wanted to charge about £120, Garth was incredibly good VFM at £65. Before I got near the turbo trainer he had me up on the physio table checking my flexibility in each leg / hip etc and then gave me feedback on what I could do to iron out any imbalance.
