Do I need to space my cassette out

I fitted my cassette onto my easton wheels about 2 weeks ago, i mounted it exactly as it came off the std wheels but i have had to adjust the derailure so much to stop it from skipping cogs. Do i need to put a spacer between the hub and the cassette?

There should be a thin metal spacer for the freehub body.

the cassettes on Easton wheels go very near the spokes

it looks as it was on the mavics I just wondered with having to adjust the high and low stops so much

Different wheels/hubs have slightly different offsets sometimes.
