I don't see how there can be a formula. Most rides my little group will do 50-60, when weather is good 80+ and several 100+ during the summer.

One of my regular cycling buddies posted a 62 minute TT25 last week. He's only 71.
 
Well I when in my late 60's used to regualy ride 100 milers and average 15mph. now at 75 and after two quite bad knee injuries find that a 60 mile ride is about as much as I can manage plus hills get steeper! But I'm not giving in yet as I still enjoy getting out, so I don't think it really matters how far you travel as long as you still enjoy the ride?
