Never had a problem with coppaslip on the pads with BB7's.
You could be right. After a couple of decades messing around with high mileage vans, cars and muddy 4x4's I never had a problem with copper grease but used once on my Tektro brakes then the pistons are sticking for no reason. Cleaned them out again, pistons are smooth and shiny, no muck in caliper but still sticking? maybe they were just crap but my XT ones have done more distance and been untouched.

I can see though how grease could foul up pistons. However with the BB7's, which are cable operated, there's nowhere really for the grease to contaminate.

Well i did what dusty advised but still squealing this morning even though it was dry - so it will be copper greased over the weekend and if not then semi metalic pads will be purchased.

I've got the same Shimano 445 brakes on my hybrid, and the same squealing problem, changed pads, cleaned etc to no avail then I bought some disc brake cleaner from Halfrauds and that seemed to cure the squealing, but all disc brakes squeal more in wet conditions I've found. I suppose that's the price to pay for decent stopping power!
