Not necessarily, not all pads are the same - most of the black ones tend to be the powdery sort, not only do they wear down quickly they also make your rims/tyres mucky. My tyres have a reflective strip around them which you could hardly see until I cleaned them off and it's still not as visible as it should be.fossyant said:The 'black stuff' is a mix of alloy and pad - you'll get black stuff with any colour pads.
