This article is in Truck & Driver magazine this month

Personally, l stay the hell away from anything bigger than a ‘transit’ near junctions/roundabouts/etc

That said there is a r/b not far from me that’s 3 lanes & l want centre lane if heading home
The lane to my left heads to an industrial estate
To the right, another industrial estate & the M62
Good fun at times
I’m either lucky or doing it right, as l’m still here!!

What is "Direct Vision Standard" about?
Keeping the hard of seeing off the road? Better sight lines at junctions etc? Vehicle design, like the removal of features that obstruct the vision?

I'd also suggest that a less obscure topic title would have helped. You posted 33 days ago, and I'm the first person who has seen fit to open the post.

Is this "Call for Labour to implement DVS nationwide" a suggestion government should be funding, providing grants etc to hauliers? The very brief article reads to me like companies asking for cash. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas so this isn't a request for DVS to be imposed by law and leave all the associated costs to the haulage companies.

The only reference to money anywhere in the article is the compliance manager for Galaxy saying "There is a cost implication of course, but the value of life far outweighs the cost". I can't see anything in the article suggesting they are asking for funding from government.

My first sentence ends with a ? after hauliers. I didn't state its a request for funding. I do wonder though if the industry is trying to pre-empt what it knows is coming and articles such as this are paving the way for a funding request.

Fitting cameras and whatever other equipment would be needed will not be cheap. Plus if it becomes a legal requirement countrywide one can imagine suppliers would find themselves in a strong position.
