Not a big deal, just a ride on mower to cut the grass. With an acre of lawn to battle with I don't have time for any other method .. short of buying a few sheep (which has been discussed !).
We spent a while in a hotel in Chile with a large garden and an Alpaca called 'Lawnmower'
Alpaca are better than sheep as domestic lawn operatives.
They don't eat most of the flowers, (although you may need to plant selectively).
If they are contained in a very small area of the garden for a few days when they first arrive, they will only crap in that area thereafter.
So unlike sheep you don't end up with sheep poo all over the garden.
They will also guard against foxes and other predators (including humans)
Alpaca wool is actually worth money (unlike sheep wool, unless you have commercial quantities)
They don't mind the cold or rain (although Llamas are the real outdoor animals as they are OK in snow as well).
They are a lot more intelligent than sheep!
