Use www.weightlossresources.co.uk to calorie count. I've lost 42kg over 18months and successfully maintained that weight for 6 months now because of the good lessons learned during the loss period. It's essentially eat less. They put you in deficit by 500cals per day so if you burn 800cals during exercise, you get to eat those calories in order to maintain the 500cal deficit. It makes a lot of sense to me, it might not to you but you can do a 24hr free trial and see if you like it.

Very interesting subject I am glad it is kept at the top of the forum and that people keep asking for advice, it goes to show that at least they recognise they have a problem.

Now for those bored with the subject it is easy to ignore it, the title helps a little bit.

This subject has been discussed time and time again. To lose FAT, eat less. Some sort of physical exercise helps.

Simple. I ate a bit less of the same foods as I've always eaten this year, ended up with about 800 calorie a day deficit riding 75-100 miles a week and 28 lbs buggered off all by itself in four months.

BTW Jimbo I really did go to bed 11 st 11 last night and woke up 11-7. No damp patches, I'm always 4lb heavier at night than in the morning. Always have been.

Similar to Chrisc, I have lost over 3.5 stone this year. I eat pretty much what I did before, in very slightly smaller quantities, but have pretty much cut out the snacking. I also stopped drinking orange juice and lemonade (which I'd used to mostly replace alcohol the previous year) and now drink orange juice and sparkling water. That and the considerably larger amounts of exercise I've been doing have done the trick.

I'm new here - and ive started eating less and in the last 3 weeks ive ridden a bike further than in my previous 48 years.

I'm losing weight

Tis true what they say - and when i feel the need to snack I have fruit. Takes a keen bit of wilpower though.

Funny thing for me is, I started on the bike as a non-impact way of losing weight - nothing more. I cant believe though how much I enjoy riding my bike. Its opened a new lease of life. Plus, you'll get a lot of help around here, which helps.

Good eh! I started riding just for the fun of it. Weight loss was a happy side effect!

During the summer would have been 100 mile per week easily, a fair bit more on average probably. 14-17mph average (after the first month or so of getting back into it).

I eat 'till I get tired, not full. I know where the problem is, was hoping for some diet sheets.

During the summer, 28 miles per day, five days a week commuting; plus a 100km Audax every other weekend and some jollies round in the evenings.

See my nutrition guide above and I still have problems shifting the fat.

Maybe I should cut down to 1500 kCals per day.

Cut out the pies, chips, burgers, Doritos, pizzas, cakes, white bread, white sugar and beer. Eat healthy food and lean meats. Watch portion size. Drink lots of water ideally prior to food. Eat nuts, fruit and veg and wholemeal bread. Finally do lots of exercise. One has to want to lose weight and stop being a fat slob. It's not complicated but does need your effort and committment. Once you have lost all that lard you have to keep it off so no slipping back into bad habits such as 6 pints of beer, a curry and a kebab on friday and saturday nights.

Eat like a King for breakfast, like a Prince for lunch and like a pauper for supper.

Dont make the mistake of snacking when you are hungry when, actualy what the body is craving is liquid as others have said make sure you drink plenty of water.

Do you know the infant school hand play "Here's the church, here's the steeple?"

The first movement of the handplay is to interlock your knuckes to made the likeness of a church without its steeple.

Strangely enough, your hands ( NOT THE WRISTS ) together like this are approximately the same size as your stomach. Do not eat any more than this volume at one meal.

If you eat breakfast cereal, the portion you should be eating is as much as you can pick up with one hand. Be careful with cornflakes, a greedy git will end up with a load of broken bits.
Porridge is the same. Try and grab too much and most of it spills out on the worktop.
Do not try to grab boiling porridge.

Only giant guys can pick up three Shredded Wheat with one hand, so they deserve them. Two is normal. One for the petite dainty ladies.
