As a 6ft 2" 15.5 stone fella, I take in a lot of calories in any given day. I've been knocking in the miles since May/June and seen weight loss of about half a stone when I would have been hoping for a lot more tbh. My carb intake is huge which I suppose is good for cycling but not for weightloss. Are there any sensible diet plans(or just general tips) out there that 1) Aren't atkins type nonsense 2) Wont cost an arm and a leg 3) Aren't bereft of carbs.

Make sure the carbs you do eat are of the complex variety with a lower GI eg granary rather than white bread, brown pasta and rice etc. The reason for this is because your body takes longer to digest and process complex carbs compared to simple ones which leaves you feeling fuller longer and less likely to snack.

If you're patient enough to research everything you eat for a few days, calorie counting can be a good approach (just Google calories in X, there are loads of sites with the info). BMR calculator can give you a rough idea of what to aim for - http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

I share your weakness for carbs, but lean meat and fruit / vegetables are pretty low so you can still get a lot in.

Willpower also helps, especially if you snack through boredom (absolutely guilty of this).

Cycling specifically for FAT loss.

Do you know what the Basal Metabolic Rate is for the weight you want to be? Yes, then eat it.
For cycling short rides of up to two hours ( 25 miles ), you needn't eat any extra. For rides two to six hours, 2g of carbs and 2g of protein per mile. For rides over six hours, 5g of carbs and 2g of protein per mile; and for rides over 12 hours, 10g of carbs and 2g of protein per mile.
In other words, after two hours riding, two slices of bread will be sufficient to get you through the next twelve miles riding ( one hour ). Have some cheese ( 100g ) between them. A pre-packed cheese sandwich will do from most supermarkets along the route. Swill it down with Diet Coke or unsweetene coffee, the caf will do you good.

Ride at a pace where breathing IN through the nose ONLY is fine for level road cruising. You can breath in through the mouth up hills

Willpower? What's willpower got to do with it?

OP want's to be Slim and Athletic. He's never going to be that if he snacks. No brainer.

Sometimes the my desire for snacks is greater than the desire to drop weight. YMMV.
Then again, I only want to shift 4-5 lbs so don't feel the need to push that hard.

I woke up 4lbs lighter this morning than I went to bed last night...

During the summer would have been 100 mile per week easily, a fair bit more on average probably. 14-17mph average (after the first month or so of getting back into it).

I eat 'till I get tired, not full. I know where the problem is, was hoping for some diet sheets.
