If you're using it on a turbo trainer a lot, highly corrosive sweat is bound to get in the nooks and crannies. I used to cover any vulnerable bits in cling film when using a bike on a trainer.
Thought the sweat catcher was enough.. Obviously is not.. Will have to add a towel to it as well.. Lesson learned...

Also thought that by washing the bike any rest of salt would be washed away.. I guess is not the case.

Sounds delightful

And how did you stop the bike from corroding

Don't knock it 'till you've tried it!

A colleague of mine completely ruined a lovely steel Bianchi by sweating all over it. Everything was corroded.

If the rivet holes are a bit ragged you don't need to re-attach that cable stop to the same place; it can go somewhere different with fresh holes drilled through the frame. Fill the old holes with Araldite so as to help spread the stresses and seal them.

I am not going near my bike with a drill..!!!

Most likely I end up cracking the frame.. But I see your point and makes total sense.. Also i know I need a bigger towel when going for a century on the trainer..

A smooth, round hole won't crack the frame because the stresses will flow cleanly around the hole. A big tube like that isn't massively stressed at any point anyway, all the stresses are flowing smoothly along it. Introduce a stress riser though, like a tear or crack and the tube will break in the same way as when you nick Sellotape with a tooth to tear it. Sometimes a temporary cure for a cracked tube or structure is to drill a clean hole at the end of the crack to "teminate" it. You might see a hole at the end of the slot on your seat tube.

Mine was on a brake cable stop to the rear brake, so I temporarily ran a cable outer all the way to the brake,(joined it with some little inline cable adjuster)I dont suppose you can do that if its a front gear cable as I suppose it runs under the BB and up a little hole.

How do you do a century on a trainer without falling asleep?
Well you can't do one as you don't go anywhere ;) Unless you mean falling asleep in the several hours it might take to cover a century if you were moving based on some algorithm...amphetamines?

The wheel spins... the distance is recorded by some sort of computer.. 3 hours and some minutes later a century (metric) is done... Now it makes more sense how the bike got all that sweat on?
