It's a thought that I've been toying with as I try to avoid sliding on frost and ice on my 700mm tyres on my way home over the last week. I'm reading a book on humanity at the minute, that's where the thought stemmed from.

Well, he floated the idea that society should be run by those most suited to running it, guarded by those best suited to guarding it yadda yadda yadda! I thought it gave a basis for the "Superman" and hence the nasties of the early 20th century.

Did you know that Empire biscuits were originally German bicuits - they changed the name during WW1.

Seems a bit harsh to me, why not blame Heidegger or Wagner? In anycase Nietzsche's early ideas were heavily influenced by Arthur Shchopenhauer and then reactions against them.

Plato of course was the basis of many philosopher's ideas. It also seems a bit strange blaming Plato. If you're going to blame Plato blame him for positives like the renaissance too as his works were dynamite as the barbarian starved west suddenly acquired them having totalled off civilisation in the crusades and manuscripts made their way west.
