Certainly influenced me, having sported short hair and side burns for years I had to get rid of the sideburns to avoid being called Wiggo every time I passed a bike, and then blow me he shaves his off!. So I am now back with sideburns and the Wiggo calls have finally stopped, so he most definitely influenced me. As for returning to cycling it was more of a conversation with a colleague who cycled, then a chance find of a spare butchers bike to complete mine, which then brought on the realisation that I bl**dy well enjoy cycling and the fixing/building up of bikes and cannot figure out how I stopped for 25 years.

Nope - what he does and I do are two entirely different things imo.

not here either, long since lost to the love of cycling,

neither Lewis Hamilton nor the other brits winning the F1 world championship inspired me to drive my car more often either.

No. I've been following the TDF since the early nineties, and whilst Wiggo's win was a joy, it was getting old(er), hitting 17 stone and being unprepared to either jog or diet that did it for me.

No, though the success in 2008 of the British might have, but whilst i got the bike to cycle to London in 2008, it wasn't till last June i started in any sort of serious way, and then to get fit enough to carry my camera kit, so it's not really relevant.

Only thing he influenced me about was not to grow mutton chops! :stop:

The Olympics as a whole reinspired me, have to admit. Thats what got me to sign up for the RideLondon race, and thus buy a bike for the first time since I was a kid. I did have a side agenda in that I wanted to give up smoking and I have no doubt cycling helped me do that.

Used to watch a little TDF in the 90's, used to love watching Chris Boardman in the Olympics in the 90's. Even though Chris Hoy is a track cyclist, and I got into road cycling, it was actually Hoy who really inspired me, rather than Wiggo. Wiggo comes across like a t**t sometimes I'm afraid to say.

Not in the slightest. I'm really not interested in competitive cycling, so much so I 'missed' whatever big cycling event it was that passed within 100yds of my house last year.

Yes, it got me to watch SPOTY for the first time in years - not only that but to vote in it it too!

No effect on me cycling or enjoying watching track cycling on the box though. As for the TdF etc., I don't find competitive road racing enjoyable as a spectator sport and never have, but I like his achievement as the first British cyclist to win the TdF.

Teaching the kids to cycle and us all going out as a family got me back into it, But cav winning the green jersey, wiggo winning the tour, and the family cheering whilst stood watching The tour of Britian as it passed over Dartmoor last year has got us all hooked.
