Fortunately for me, I grew up eating food rich in lentils, beans, chickpeas, fish and lots of salads so it has been very to go back to that diet.I have the same deadly duo combination. Have you a list of accepatble foods that meet the somewhat conflicting requirements of both conditions and of course a list of the "no, noes"?
I hardly drink any alcohol, only occasionally it must be 5 months since I had some wine with a meal, my big problem is that I cannot live without bread butter and cheese. Sugar was another problem, 3 tea spoons with every cup of tea/coffee was the dosis. Just before I was diagnosed I went through a period where for the first time in my life I abused chocolate consumption.... no idea what brought that on.
Quinoa is another very good food to eat, ideal rice replacement. The doc said bastmati rice it's ok.
I also eat almonds, chestnuts, etc.
Porridge every single morning, without fail.
Favourite lunch for me is a large portion of green salad with avocado, sherry tomatoes and proms, tea and bread with something I shouldn't eat too much
I must thank my wife cause without her I would be in serious trouble. She cooks all my meals and she is a wonderful cook.
Besides that I eat everything on occasions and moderation , even chocolates or honey to mention 2.
Cycling and walking are also part of treatment.
