Spincity Thanks definitely going to keep a diary, silly really I have to keep one at work and for blood samples but never saw the need for it out side of that. I'm sure that porridge is delicious but way to much sugar for me would put me in the high teens till late afternoon if I ate nothing else, I just couldn't burn that much off I don't have that level of fitness. Although I think the tea bread may be a nice alternative "compact meal", but unfortunately you cant get her recipes free off the web but there are plenty of similar ones on there. Cant thank you enough for info all good stuff its made me think differently.

Slowspoke thanks for the link pity the BDA don't have something similar or maybe I've missed it

I use tablets for diabetes control, so totally different rules apply. Thought it might be worth noting though that I've asked all the questions about exercise, for the dibetes and CHD, and discovered that it's very difficult to get definitive replies. I've had to resort to reading a lot and then going back to the doctor for help interpreting what I've found.

One thing that Spin City has said does ring very true. Take a meal with you. A full day's cycling uses a lot of fuel and with a dodgy glucose control system I certainly sometimes find it's essential in order to be able to get back home!
