Is anyone wearing this on the big day? I realise there will be a lot of people in charity kit but I'm not riding for a charity and had considered the official kit - or at least the jersey. Does anyone have it - this year's or last years? What is the quality like? What is the sizing like? Will I look an idiot in it?! Would I better just sticking with my favourite (most comfy) bib shorts? Does anyone mind giving me clothing/kit tips for the day?

You're mixing it up with 20'000 other Lycra clad riders. Do you honestly think anyone will care what you look like?

@w00hoo_kent has one of the official jerseys.

Very true I know. I'm thinking more about whether the official kit is comfortable and of good quality (I'm sure quality is good) and sizing. I do have favourite shorts as I say, perhaps I'm better to stick with them. It's probably going to rain all day and we'll all be stuck in rain jackets for the duration anyway..........

I've bought the jersey, I'm using it with my old all black bib shorts and it doesn't look terrible (I think anyway). My wife says it's not the most flattering patterns on me (being fat anyway the blocky nature doesn't hide it well). My intention is to wear it while training but I'll be wearing normal non-descript kit on the day. I'm one of those 'don't wear the band shirt to the concert' types.

I might buy the rest of the set once it goes on sale. It's standard DHB stuff, the jersey I have is half zip, three pockets, plus small zip pocket etc. I'm 100kg, stocky and wearing a Large. It's vented material, so definitely summer wear although I was fine in it on the FNRttC (I wear a thin compression layer under it along with bib shorts, I did have a thin Madison waterproof on for a lot of it, and shimano sleeves for all of it though) when I head out for work at 6am it's cold, although it might be better now I own sleeves. You can see me in it on the right hand side of this picture, although I am just zipping the waterproof over the top of it.

Thanks for the above, I keep looking at it and thinking "shall I?" but it's expensive if it's just going to end up being a souvenir of the event. There are (much cheaper) t-shirts if I want a souvenir, I guess. And I do have fantastically comfy shorts which have done me proud on a 60 miler, my longest so far. My favourite jersey that doesn't ride up like lots of others might be best too. Cheers for the replies.

Your best souvenir is your memories of the day.

It gets discounted after the event, so might be worth risking that. I've very much bought it as a souvenir plus a talking point while I'm practicing (although I'm not doing it for a charity so it's kind of a vain talking point!). The shirt I will be wearing is a yellow/white/black DHB shirt I bought to match yellow/black bib shorts I have and as it was also DHB so I got the two on a Wiggle discount anyway.

I already own too many T-shirts so the cycle jersey (I'm heading towards owning too many of them too!) seemed a better way to go. I believe you get a medal if you finish too :-)

Yep but I can have both

Long as I don't spend too much!
Buy now, 365 day returns from wiggle. If you decide not to wear, and is then reduced, you can rebuy and return!

As a woman, I reckon you'd be better off getting something different that's wsd, minx girl, velo vixen, ana nichoola, even gore or pearl Izumi. And you can wear it again

Shutt VR make some lovely and original looking WS jerseys too.

I didn't like the look of the official kit last year so I opted for a RLS T shirt instead as souvenir, as @ianrauk says your memories of the day are the best souvenir. We are riding for charity this year, and we didn't really like the Official DEBRA jersey either, too many other sponsors on it, and it was expensive.

I got a very good "charity deal" from SHUTT VR http://www.shuttvr.com/ who make really nice cycle kit, made in England, I am having them printed with charity logo (DEBRA) and two company sponsors who gave us very generous donations.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
We now have two alarmingly priced (even after 12% discount) and alarmingly sized official tops from this year.
