I use a Moon Meteor 200 as my front light. Lasts over an hour on its brightest setting (200 lumens), but the middle setting is quite good enough for unlit country lanes. I also use it in flash mode in bright sunlight. USB rechargeable, so I plug it into the PC when I get to work. Tiny little thing, cost about £50, very happy with it.

Those Wiggle Moon Power lights are amazingly good, two of those allowed my cycling buddy and me to extend our Wednesday night hooligan rides right into the winter, with a noticeable benefit once the evenings got lighter.

Mounted on the bars is best so you can see the power indicator and where the lamp casts shadows on the road. On your helmet, you get no shadows and your reading of the terrain ahead is less easy.
